The Youth Center (Arlington and Fort Worth)

The Youth Centers provides treatment for youth, ages 6-17, with behavior/emotional disorders and their families. Services provided are determined by clinical assessment tools and evaluations. Our clinic utilizes a comprehensive service approach with an emphasis on community and family-based care.

MHMR provides substance use outpatient to youth, ages 13-17, at three locations in Tarrant County. All locations provide group-based treatment. Treatment is based on the youth’s individual needs.

Treatment Goals:

• Understand the disease concept of substance use
• Understand the process of recovery 
• Accept responsibility for actions
• Learn appropriate social behaviors 
• Make positive changes in their lives

Family Session Goals: 

• Include the youth and family in the recovery process 
• Improve family communication and relationships 
• Educate parents about substance use and related behaviors 

Support Service Goals:

• Assess appropriate service and treatment needs
• Help youth and families actively participate in recovery 
• Make referrals to community services and support groups 

The Youth Recovery Campus (The Campus) houses a 16-bed, full-time residential program for male youth, age 13-17. Our youth are referred from several Juvenile Probation officers, truancy courts, and school districts. We also accept youth who are self-referred. The average stay for treatment is 45-60 days. 

Our counseling staff provide treatment using evidence-based curriculum, addressing:

• Relapse Prevention 
• Twelve Steps 

Treatment for co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders is also available.

Our clinics utilize a comprehensive service approach, which is an intensive, holistic method of engaging with people who have complex needs so they can live in their homes and communities.

• Skills Training: social skills, anger management, coping skills, parenting and life-management skills

• Family partners are certified advocates that help the youth and families navigate the different systems involved in their lives
• Parent support groups

Psychiatric Services

• Comprehensive evaluation and diagnostic services

Youth Services works with families and youth both in a clinic setting at school, and at home.

Juvenile Justice System – Youth involved with the juvenile justice system may have access to mental health treatment. Case managers help eligible youth access:

• Psychiatric Services
• Social Services
• Educational Services

Access to these services are a provided through a partnership with the Tarrant County Juvenile Justice.

Care House – The Care House (Adolescent Respite Unit) offers short-term, residential treatment to youth 13-17 in a mental health crisis. Adolescents must have low risk of harm to themselves or others. Treatment is also provided for youth with some functional needs that require supervision but does not require hospitalization.
